Rev Wanje, on communion Sunday, reminded us of and illustrated the preciousness of the blood of Jesus Christ: in its particularity, purity, presentation, and power. He reminded us the blood has the power to cleanse us of ALL sins i.e. “if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” (1 John 1:7 NIV).

Hymnist Robert Lowry wrote:

“What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh, precious is the flow that makes me white as snow. No other fount I know; nothing but the blood of Jesus.”

John records, ‘The accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth – the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony’ (Revelation 12:10-11 NLT). When satan or other life’s circumstances beat you down, remember that The Christ who lives within you is stronger than the enemy you face.

The power of the blood of Jesus has provided everything you need to live a life of victory, including redemption, fellowship, healing, protection, and authority over the devil. As Gloria Copeland says, “The blood that Jesus shed for you and me has enormous, great power. And we need to be saying so, and declaring it over our lives.”

Application

  1. Read: Hebrews 7:27; 10:12-14; 12:24
  2. Write down the truths that the Bible has reinforced about the power of the blood of Jesus in your life.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the power and freedom that I have through the blood that Jesus Christ shed for me. May I hold onto this truth even when faced with life’s ups and downs? Holy Spirit, be my guide and comforter that I may not falter and forget.
