Meet Our Senior Pastor
REV. ELIJAH WANJE
I was born in the coastal region of Kenya and raised in a Christian family. My late father, Rev. Morris K. Wanje the 1st Kenyan Baptist Pastor and my mother Grace Wanje, gave me a strong Christian foundation.
At the age of 12, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior and yielded my life to his Lordship. At Mombasa Baptist High School, I joined a discipleship group which helped me to grow in my knowledge of Christ and in my commitment to his service. At the same High School, I sensed God’s hand upon my life and a leading towards ministry. God blessed me with opportunities to further my studies at William Baptist College, Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas and got my master’s degree at South Western Baptist Theological Seminary.
Through the years, God has blessed me with opportunities to preach the gospel in crusades, revival services, outreach ministries. I have been involved in Pastoral and leadership training at the Kenya Baptist Theological College and have been involved in various church planting efforts. The planting of Ridgeways Baptist Church together with Dr. Sam Turner, will have a special mark in my life for this is where I am serving today as the Senior Pastor.
Started in 1988 March, Ridgeways Baptist church has started 17 other congregations and has an attendance of over 1,200 in the Sunday Services.
God has blessed me with a wife, Joy Wanje, Edwin, Leshan and Grace my children.
